The arrears of electricity charges in the accounts of the previous consumer of any premises is to be recovered from previous consumer and not from purchaser/ occupier of the premises.

 

If a purchaser of such premises requires a new connection, as the earlier connection was disconnected, the new connection shall not be denied to such purchaser, provided he furnishes a deposit which shall be equal to the arrears of electricity charges and other liabilities, excluding interest.

 

The licensee shall release this extra deposit when an order on the recovery of arrears is obtained from appropriate legal forum OR when the licensee settles the arrears with the previous consumer OR on completion of three years whichever is less.
