In the case of demolishing and reconstruction of entire existing building, what is the condition for continuing the existing service connection for re-construction purpose and for new building?

In the case of demolishing of the entire existing building if the consumer requires the existing service connection to be continued for the purpose of re-construction, the service connection may be allowed to be continued, subject to the following clauses:-

(i) The existing service connection may be shifted to a standard weather proof kiosk and supply may be extended to the electrical installation for the reconstruction of building, provided such electrical installation for reconstruction purpose has been made in accordance with the CEA standards including the provisions for Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB).

(ii) Electricity charge shall be realized at the appropriate tariff rates applicable for construction of building for the time being.

(iii) On completion of the construction of the new building, if the load requirement of the new building justifies the shifting of existing service connection to it, the connection may be shifted to the new building provided the wiring is completed in accordance with CEA standards.

(v) On completion of the construction of the new building if the load requirement of the new building does not justify the shifting of the existing service Connection, a new service connection shall be availed by the consumer as per the relevant regulations.”
